How Do You Check your Credit Report
More Than Once Per Year?
A good credit report is a determining factor
when it comes to many things like getting a loan, mortgage,
credit card, an apartment, some jobs and even insurance
policies. Most people are aware of the fact that they are
entitled to get at least one credit report from each of the 3
credit bureaus each year. This may not be adequate because even
though your credit history is good, some inaccurate information
may have been included.
There are certain times when it becomes
necessary to check the report like before you apply for a loan
or when you lose your wallet. There are certain laws that have
been put in place to give you the chance to check the report
more than once in a year in particular situations. Make sure
the reasons are reasonable so that the search is not registered
and which in turn will affect any future applications.
When you are denied a credit card, job or
even insurance because of the information that is contained in
your credit report, you can get a copy of the report to verify
the contents. This can be done by getting in touch with the
credit agency within two months after you have received the
denial notice.
If you are not employed and intend to look
for a job within a period of two months, you can check your
credit report more than once. Those who are on welfare also
have an opportunity to get a report more than once. Once you
have experienced any form of fraud which reflects negatively on
your credit report, you are allowed to check it more than once
in a year.
It is important to note that there are free
ones that you will get more than once but this will depend on
the reasons that make you want to check the report. There are
also those that you can gain access to more than once by buying
through the agencies. It is essential to buy them directly from
the 3 credit agencies so that you prevent any form of fraud or
inaccurate information.
